Rocky Mountain National Park Engagement Session - Colorado Wedding Photographer - Erin and Taylor

If you know me, you know I am a sucker for sunrise engagement sessions and elopements. Do I hate myself when my alarm is going off at 3 am? Yes 100%. Do I get over it the second I have a warm beverage in my hand and I am driving in no traffic while listening to a fabulous audio book or podcast? Yup. So while the first 30 minutes are rough, I get over it pretty quickly, and I am so glad to be on the road and on my way to photograph some pretty people in some pretty colors.

Erin and Taylor met me right before the sun came up for their Rocky Mountain National Park Engagement Session on a warm early fall day. It was a little bit stormy, so at one point we saw a rainbow in Morraine Park. Not only did we take a million photos with the rainbow in the back ground, but shortly after that we found a patch of golden yellow fall leaves and had another mini freak out while we took another bunch of photos. Erin’s red dress made for a stunning addition to the colors of our back drop. After some time in Morraine Park, we left to get some last minute photos at 3M Curve. One of my favorite things about 3M curve is that even if the light isnt great, the photos are still stunning - the mountains and the backdrop are just too pretty. We had a mini sun shower that lasted all of like 6 minutes, but it gave the session a bit more life and also some more fun. Erin and Taylor are some of the most fun, kind hearted people I have ever met, and if you haven’t seen it yet, please make sure to check out their amazing Maroon Bells Wedding.

Kat and Rich - Breckenridge Snowboarding Engagement Session - Breckenridge, CO

snowboarding engagement session breckenridge colorado

One of my favorite things to do is go snowboarding, especially during the week, ESPECIALLY on a powder day! On cold Tuesday in January at Breckenridge ski resort, I managed to accomplish all of my favorites, including an adventurous engagement session! The resort had reported 6 inches the night before, but there were definitely spots that had at least 8-10 inches - SOOO GOOD. Couple that with the fact that it was a weekday and there were no lift lines, so I was in heaven.

Kat and Rich were in town from Miami to finish some wedding planning (they are getting married at the Sonnenalp in Vail next February - yup. cant wait!) and we decided to do some engagement photos in Breckenridge at the ski resort! The engagement session was completely based around snowboarding, and of course, the occasional beer break ;) It was a blast and I love couples who don’t take themselves seriously and just try to live life as genuinely as they can. They are both nurses who are incredibly passionate about what they do, and it shows. They also love snowboarding together, so much so that they make it a point to take multiple ski trips a year! We started out with some fun photos in the snow, and then bundled up and went riding. It was my first time ever carrying all of my heavy photo gear while snowboarding (not to mention my first snowboarding engagement session!) and I was terrified I was going to fall straight onto one of my cameras and break a lens or something worse. Luckily the snow was great and riding with all the gear in my backpack was relatively easy.

If this kind of an adventurous engagement session sounds up your alley, please do not hesitate to reach out! I had so much fun doing this and would love to meet more fun loving couples like Kat and Rich!
