San Sophia Overlook Wedding - Telluride Wedding Photographer - Silke & Peter

Silke and Peter have an amazing story - they met in a cab. No seriously. And somehow they kept bumping into each other after that, in the most random places, until finally it was clear that fate wanted them to get together. Fast forward to this beautiful September day, and these fellow bagel lovers (we agree, bagels create unequivocal levels of happiness) are making it official. The day was gorgeous and relatively warm (as warm as mother nature allows the top of a mountain to be) and still so green, given the late September date. During their ceremony there wasnt a dry eye among the guests, especially after Silke and Peters parents both spoke during the ceremony. Immediately after the ceremony there were guests enjoying the view and taking photos, while I took photos of the wedding party and family. Afterwards, we lucked out with one of the prettiest sunsets ever. They had their reception at Allreds, which has stunning views of the town of Telluride. Guests then got crazy on the dance floor, because the band, Lane Changers, was all about keeping that energy ALIVE - no slow dances or breaks for these guys.

As usual, I am at a loss for (good) words on how amazing and beautiful (and FUN) Silke and Peters Telluride wedding weekend was. It’s not that I can’t sit here and ramble on and on about how gorgeous Silke looked, or how stunning San Sophia Overlook is, and how amazing it was to also photograph them the day before all over Telluride (I know, my adjective game is weak!), because I can, but it’s that I truly am doing a disservice to the day by trying to describe it all in endless detail. I think the photos can speak for themselves, so I am going to take the backseat here and let you all enjoy!

If you are thinking of having your ceremony at San Sophia Overlook, please reach out! I’d love to capture your Telluride Wedding :)

YMCA of the Rockies Wedding - Overlook Chapel - Estes Park Wedding Photographer - Maria & Chris

When I met Maria and Chris for the first time during their RMNP engagement session, I knew this was going to be a fun wedding. I think we laughed the whole time, and even Maria admits they’re not your typical mushy PDA-y kind of couple. They’re constantly poking fun at each other (in the sweetest of ways, of course), laughing with each other and genuinely having fun together. And let me tell you, thank god for that kind of attitude, because their wedding day was CRAZY.

Let’s start off with the morning of, which was actually kind of perfect - it was freakin beautiful, the sun was shining, and it wasn’t ungodly hot, which is pretty common in the middle of summer. We knew there was going to be a storm later, but being Colorado we all just assumed it would rain for a bit and pass. Once we got up to the Overlook Chapel at the YMCA it started coming down, but nothing crazy. Then the wind picked up and all hell broke loose - I’m talking lightening, hail, torrential downpour, all of it. And yet we still managed to get some fun photos (despite everyone, even Maria & Chris, getting soaked to the bone - somehow my gear survived). Finally we had to call it, and Maria and Chris decided to have a quick faux ceremony at the top before heading back down to their reception area to have the full ceremony. Both were fun and intimate in their own way. On the one hand we had rainy ceremony, where everyone was just kind of laughing over the ridiculousness that is Mother Nature. On the other we had this super intimate ceremony by the fire place, where everyone was cozy and got to enjoy a cocktail as they watched. Both were great, and overall I’m glad that despite things not going according to plan, Maria and Chris enjoyed their day and embraced all the madness!
