This engagement shoot was one of those that was totally last minute, totally unplanned, and at the mercy of the Colorado weather. If you have ever lived in Colorado, you know that when the weather man tells you it’s going to snow, you take that with a grain of salt, because it could just as easily be sunny and 70 degrees. But this time, the weather gods came through, and we were looking at a snowy afternoon for Nik and Tani’s mountain engagement session.
Nik and Tani are fellow transplants from Miami who traded the beach for the mountains, like me. It always feels good to hang out with former Miamians because they just...KNOW. They know how much nicer people are out here. They get it when I say that "I need a croqueta like yesterday". They know what I mean when I refer to something as menial as driving to the store for milk as “a mission”. So of course, it was a blast. Honestly, I’m not quite sure who had more fun during this session, but I’m willing to bet it was me, because I laughed so hard during their epic snowball fight. When I told them they should have a snowball fight, I was not expecting this level of...vigor? Determination? I don’t know, because all of my adjectives are failing me now, but regardless it was ruthless and I’m pretty sure they were soaked by the end from all the snow - not to mention that it was FREEZING, so props to them for enduring the weather and being troopers!
I think the image above might be my favorite. Poor Nik didn't even flinch!
I love how in the image above Tani has no idea what's coming her way.
so. damn. good.
I had a blast hanging with Nik and Tani and I can't wait to capture their wedding later this year!
